Keyvan Samimi was released

Keyvan Samimi, who has a history of being the managing editor of the magazine ‘Nameh’ and the editor-in-chief of the publication ‘Iran-e-Farda’, is also a member of the Iranian Writers’ Association.

He, who is 74 years old, has been a political prisoner both during the Pahlavi era and the Islamic Republic.

Mr. Samimi was transferred to Evin Prison in December 2021 to serve his two-year sentence on charges of assembly and collusion with the intent to act against national security.

This charge was related to the journalist and political activist’s presence at a protest gathering held in May 2019 in front of the Parliament building on the occasion of International Workers’ Day.
