Main suspect in Pentagon document leak arrested

Hours after the name of the main suspect in leaking US military confidential documents was announced in American media and confirmed by government officials, the US Attorney General announced that FBI agents have arrested him and he is set to appear in court in Boston today.

This 21-year-old was arrested by the FBI on Thursday at his family home in the village of Dighton, Massachusetts.

US officials have told CBS News that the name of the main suspect in the leak of US confidential defense and intelligence documents is Jack Teixeira.

US officials said he will be charged under the Espionage Act of 1917, which considers the physical or electronic transfer of confidential defense information a crime.

Shortly before, the New York Times reported that the operator of a video game chat group where the documents were leaked had a similar name.
