Member of the Budget and Planning Commission: Buying a car is becoming a dream for many

Ehsan Arkani, a member of the Parliament’s Budget and Planning Commission, mentioned that with the rising car prices in Iran, buying a car, like buying a house, is becoming a dream for the people.

In an interview with Daneshjoo News Agency, Arkani added that buying a Peugeot 207 for one billion Tomans is a disaster.

He added that the Ministry of Industry and the government have changed their role in the automotive sector from regulation to management.

Yesterday, after almost a year and a half, the official prices of Iranian-made cars increased.

According to the CEO of Saipa, based on the Competition Council’s decision, the official price of this company’s products will rise by about 18 percent, and the prices of Iran Khodro’s products will increase by 29 percent.

Despite this increase, the official car prices are still half of their market price and in some cases even less.

In recent days, the issue of the extent of the car price increase has caused public disagreements between the Competition Council and the Ministry of Industry.
