New record for the dollar price: 54,000 tomans
On Friday, February 24, the US dollar rate in Iran’s free markets increased by 1,350 tomans compared to the previous day, reaching a record of 54,000 tomans.
The dollar rate in Iran has faced a more rapid and continuous increase over the past two weeks, and during this short period, it has grown by nearly 23% against the Iranian rial.
Since the beginning of the current Persian year, the dollar rate has surged by 69% against the Iranian rial.
While some hoped that with the launch of Iran’s currency and gold exchange center this Wednesday, the currency prices would be controlled and eventually reduce the prices of other goods in the markets, this has not happened, and the upward trend of various foreign currencies in the country continues.
On Friday, the euro rate soared to nearly 57,000 tomans, and the British pound rate reached up to 64,560 tomans.
