New Record for Dollar Price in Iran
The dollar rate in Iran’s free markets on Thursday, February 9th, increased by 440 tomans compared to the previous day, setting a new historical record and reaching 45,040 tomans.
The previous dollar rate record was from early February, when it peaked at 45,000 tomans, but after some fluctuations, it rose again.
The euro rate also peaked at 48,590 tomans during the day.
The fall in the value of the rial against major foreign currencies comes despite promises from the Islamic Republic officials in recent weeks to stabilize the currency market.
The fall in the value of the rial also occurs while, according to official statistics, the country’s non-oil exports in the first 10 months of this year amounted to 485 billion dollars, showing an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
