Night Strike of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers

The strike of the seasonal workers at Haft Tappeh Sugarcane, which began on Saturday, March 11, continues, and the night shift workers have also joined the strike, announcing that the strike will continue for a third day until March 13.

According to workers’ reports, they are demanding attention to the situation of seasonal workers, equalization of residential benefits, and the reinstatement of Esmail Bakhshi. The Free Union of Iranian Workers’ channel also reported that on Sunday, March 12, the election of workers’ representatives was held by the employer and the labor office at the Haft Tappeh company, which many workers boycotted.

According to the Free Union of Iranian Workers’ channel, since Haft Tappeh was handed over to the Khuzestan Sugarcane Development and By-products Company, numerous protests have been ongoing by workers objecting to low wage levels and demanding equalization of wages with other subsidiaries of the company.

According to this channel, the employer and government officials are trying to impose representatives approved by the labor office and the employer on the company’s workers.
