Open Letter from Environmental Activists to Pezeshkian: We Are Concerned About the Current Situation
A group of environmental activists has written an open letter to Masoud Pezeshkian regarding the appointment of a new head for the Environmental Protection Organization, expressing their deep concern about the current situation due to the delay in announcing the organization’s leadership and the news that has been published.
According to Shargh newspaper, these activists have warned against the influence of political issues or the impact of individuals who have previously held the position, in selecting someone outside of professional frameworks to lead this specialized organization.
The authors of this letter have stated that they demand the selection of individuals with experience from within the Environmental Protection Organization’s ranks.
In another part, it is written that we emphasize that the selection of non-expert and political individuals, influenced by power-sharing dynamics, which undoubtedly your initiative has disappointed, has been one of the main reasons for the decline in environmental protection in Iran over the past few decades. We are concerned about the repetition of this trend and the hidden dominance of former political managers of this organization.
