The Parliamentary Research Center states that people do not find the amount of subsidies deposited sufficient.
The results of a survey show that 60.6% of people have a negative view of the overall subsidy reform plan, with the main reason being the increase in prices of other goods that were not supposed to become more expensive as a result of this plan. Considering this, it is understandable why 88.6% of people do not find the amount of subsidies deposited sufficient. Naturally, larger families are more affected by the economic pressure caused by rising prices, and the results of this survey confirm that.
Other findings of this survey indicate that the purchasing power of households for essential goods has decreased compared to before the implementation of the plan at the beginning of the year. Therefore, according to the survey and people’s opinions, 58.5% of people prefer the government to offer seven essential goods at last year’s prices through vouchers, while 28.6% prefer a monthly cash subsidy of 300,000 or 400,000 tomans per person.
It is worth mentioning that according to the survey by the Public Opinion Institute, among those who preferred vouchers over cash subsidies, 56.2% stated that even if the vouchers could only be used in specific stores, they would still prefer them over cash subsidies.
