The Commander of the Law Enforcement Force: People and officials have asked us to take action
Ahmadreza Radan, the Chief Commander of Iran’s Law Enforcement, explained the reason for the police’s involvement in a program on state television, saying that if a hijab warning message is sent once and the recipient says ‘you are mistaken,’ we accept it. But if we send it a second time, they should grant us the right to assume that there has been a negligence and the next operation must proceed.
However, he did not provide an explanation about what exactly the next operation entails or what action the police will take.
The Law Enforcement Commander stated that regarding the hijab issue, people and officials have asked the police to take action.
Since the death of Mahsa Amini last September, ending the mandatory hijab has become one of the main demands of the protesters.
In these six months, for the first time since the hijab became mandatory about 40 years ago, some women have refused to cover their hair, an action that often garners public support and solidarity.
