Raisi and Resolving the Petrochemical Crisis in Beijing

Raisi and Resolving the Petrochemical Crisis in Beijing. According to Iran Gate, reports from the state of petrochemical companies across the country indicate a crisis in the production lines of most of these companies. This crisis is flowing in two main axes, leading to a reduction in production and a decrease in the revenue of these companies. Now, on the eve of Ebrahim Raisi’s trip to Beijing, it is said that the Iranian delegation sent to China will seek to resolve this crisis.

Evidence suggests that the petrochemical industry in Iran has entered a crisis phase. Last week, a report was published on this matter, indicating that petrochemical companies are refraining from offering currency in the NIMA market. Now, there are reports of production halts at some major petrochemical companies due to technical reasons.

The Chinese Key Turns in the Petrochemical Lock

Reports indicate production halts at Lordegan Petrochemical, Amir Kabir Petrochemical, Pardis Petrochemical, and others. According to these reports, technical problems have occurred in the country’s large and important industrial complexes, causing production stoppages. Considering that Chinese companies have been the main suppliers of equipment and machinery for Iran’s petrochemical industry, it is now said that the key to solving this crisis is also held in Beijing.

For instance, at Lordegan Petrochemical, it is said that compressors sold by China to Iran have encountered technical problems, and the necessary parts for their repair are not available to the company. On the other hand, changes in political equations in the region and China’s 180-degree turn regarding the Islamic Republic have led Chinese companies to refuse after-sales services to their Iranian customers under the pretext of sanctions.

What is Raisi Seeking in Beijing?

According to reports that have been published, it seems that all members of Raisi’s economic team will accompany the head of the thirteenth government on his trip to Beijing. Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin, Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade, is among Raisi’s companions on this trip. It is said that the agenda for this trip for Fatemi Amin is defined in two main areas: first, extensive cooperation in the field of car imports and the production of two Iranian automotive giants, and second, solving the serious issue of petrochemical companies in production lines, which has also affected the NIMA market.

Of course, there is serious doubt about how successful Raisi and the Iranian delegation will be in changing the minds of the Chinese, but it seems that the government will make every effort to keep the largest and most important channel for foreign currency entry into the country, the petrochemical industry, open. However, it seems that the U.S. Treasury Department’s campaign to sanction Iranian petrochemical companies will be a major obstacle on this path for travelers to Beijing.
