Decrease in the area of Lake Urmia

The Director General of the Office for the Conservation and Restoration of Wetlands of the Environmental Protection Organization has reported a reduction of over 1000 square kilometers in the area of Lake Urmia.

The catchment areas of the lake are experiencing a decrease in precipitation of approximately 47 millimeters.

All six main catchment areas of the country are still facing a decrease in rainfall compared to normal conditions.
