Renting Iranian bank cards to Afghan migrants for buying bread
With the implementation of the bread supply plan, where bread can only be purchased with a bank card, some Afghan migrants who are illegally in Iran or have faced banking service cuts during this time are having trouble buying bread and are forced to borrow a bank card from a friend, employer, or even their landlord to purchase bread.
Currently, between 1.6 million to 1.7 million Afghans are living legally in Iran, 2 to 2.5 million only have census papers, and about 300,000 to 500,000 have no documentation in Iran.
Therefore, around three million Afghans receive no services in Iran.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the situation of Afghans in Iran has led to a boom in rented bank cards, and some Iranians who have many bank cards are renting them out monthly.
