Residents of Underprivileged Areas in the Capital to Receive Free Insurance

Residents of underprivileged areas of the capital will be insured for free.

Dr. Alireza Namazi, the head of the Health Insurance Directorate of Tehran Province, said

In Tehran, 259 underprivileged areas have been identified, and the plan for free insurance for the three lowest-income deciles in these areas started from the Shush and Harandi regions. With this plan, 176,000 people were covered by insurance. Now, there should be no one in Tehran without insurance. The important point is that the insurance of all these people who received free insurance has been automatically extended until July 2023. If anyone is left, they must visit to be assessed for financial capability.

Since this process takes time, they can have free insurance for up to three months while waiting for the financial capability assessment results. The fourth income decile must pay 10%, the fifth and sixth deciles 25%, the seventh and eighth deciles 50%, and the ninth and tenth deciles must pay 100% of the insurance share.
