Reuters: Iran has tested a suicide drone in the Persian Gulf
The Reuters news agency, quoting an American official, has reported that Iran tested a suicide drone against a practice vessel in the Persian Gulf and fired another missile or drone without warning ships in the area.
This official, citing U.S. intelligence data, said the drone was launched yesterday in the Jask area of Iran, 12 to 14 kilometers towards the sea within Iran’s territorial waters, against a practice boat.
The American official also stated that the main target is to damage commercial ships, which is the only reason such a test was conducted in the Gulf of Oman.
The U.S. has accused Iran of being responsible for multiple attacks on commercial ships in the strategic waters of the Persian Gulf since 2019.
According to Reuters, Iran periodically tests explosive or suicide drones and has released footage of these tests so far.
