Revealing 70% Inflation in Iran

Disclosure of 70% Inflation in Iran

While the Central Bank and the Statistical Center of Iran have refrained from publishing inflation-related statistics for the second consecutive month, a knowledgeable source in the Central Bank says that the increase in prices of goods and services in April this year compared to the same month last year is close to 70%.

On Wednesday, May 17, the Eco Iran website reported, quoting this Central Bank source, that the inflation rate for April is 68.7%, a rate that is just one step away from 70% inflation and is the highest inflation rate in the past 30 years.

In recent years, the official institutions of the Islamic Republic have not been willing to publish official statistics to conceal Iran’s economic situation.
