Senior Chinese diplomat announces peace initiative for Ukraine

China announced its peace initiative to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. Wang Yi, former Chinese Foreign Minister, said at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, February 18, that to achieve a safer world, the principles of the United Nations Charter must be supported and followed.

According to this senior Chinese diplomat, the chaos and conflicts currently disrupting the world are mostly due to the non-compliance with the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter.

Wang Yi continued his remarks by calling for the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and consultation. According to this Chinese official, problems between countries should not be resolved through pressure or unilateral sanctions, as these actions have the opposite effect and lead to endless problems.

Wang Yi also emphasized that no matter how intense the tensions become, dialogue and consultation should not weaken, and peace should be given a chance.
