Serious escalation of the economic crisis in Iran
The Etemad newspaper reported on alternative methods for purchasing protein products, mentioning a return to bartering goods and working in exchange for chicken thighs.
In this field report from some meat and chicken shops in areas of Tehran, it was emphasized that the number of people unable to afford meat and chicken is increasing daily. Etemad quoted a Twitter user who said that a philanthropist went to settle the debts of the needy at butcher shops but found that most of the debts were for chicken skin and feet.
In another part of this report, it was also mentioned that some shops in lower-income neighborhoods have closed their ledgers, and some intend to change their business because some people cannot even afford chicken liver and gizzards, making it unprofitable for them to stay in this market.
