Espionage of Embassy Employees in Kyiv

Hackers suspected of being linked to the Russian foreign intelligence service deceived dozens of diplomats working in foreign embassies in Ukraine with a fake advertisement for a cheap BMW car.

Reuters, citing data from a cybersecurity company, reported that this action was aimed at infiltrating the computers of employees of foreign embassies in Ukraine.

Analysts from the research division of Unit 42 at the American IT company Palo Alto Networks highlighted in this report a widespread espionage activity that targeted diplomats in at least 22 offices of 80 foreign missions in the Ukrainian capital.
