Statement by a Group of Filmmakers on Identifying the Causes of Poisonings

A statement by a group of filmmakers regarding the identification of poisoning agents

A group of Iranian filmmakers and lawyers have issued a statement calling for the identification of those responsible for the poisoning of students.

The statement mentions that intentional poisonings in Iranian schools, which began in Qom in December 2022, have poisoned over 13,000 people by the end of the year.

The signatories have stated that while any action or protest does not escape the notice of authoritarian forces, the neglect in uncovering the perpetrators of these crimes is part of the agenda of hidden gangs in the dark rooms of mafia power.

It seems this act is a form of threat and revenge against young girls who, in the transformative movement of ‘Woman, Life, Freedom,’ have aimed to end compulsory hijab and demand women’s rights.

Among the signatories of this statement are Giti Pourfazel, Jafar Panahi, Katayoun Riahi, Nasrin Sotoudeh, and Mehrangiz Kar.
