The Taliban Bans Installing Windows Overlooking Women’s Areas

The Taliban Islamists in Afghanistan have issued a decree banning the installation of windows overlooking areas used by women in residential homes.

According to this decree, newly constructed buildings should not have windows that overlook the courtyard, kitchen, neighbor’s well, or other places that are commonly used by women.

This decree was issued by Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban government spokesperson, announced this decree, stating that seeing women working in the kitchen, courtyard, or fetching water from a well could lead to immoral actions. Therefore, local authorities and other related entities have been asked to oversee construction sites and ensure that neighboring homes cannot be seen.

According to the new guidelines, owners of older homes are encouraged to block off areas used by women in the home by building walls.
