Tehran Prosecutor: Summoned Artists Will Be Arrested If They Don't Appear

Tehran Prosecutor: Artists who have been summoned will be arrested if they do not appear.

These statements were made after the attendance of some female artists at various events without the mandatory hijab has become newsworthy in recent days.

The Iranian Judiciary Media Center, quoting Ali Salehi, the Tehran Prosecutor, stated that some of the summoned figures have not yet appeared before the judicial authorities, and if they do not attend the court within the legal deadline, they will be arrested.

Judicial cases have been filed against some actors, including Katayoun Riahi, Pantea Bahram, Afsaneh Bayegan, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, and Reza Kianian, for defying the mandatory hijab. In recent days, images of Afsaneh Bayegan wearing optional attire at the tribute ceremony for Attila Pesyani on social media have sparked reactions. Ms. Bayegan had previously posted a photo of herself without a headscarf on her Instagram.

At the tribute ceremony for Attila Pesyani, another Iranian actress, Fatemeh Motamed Arya, also attended without attire approved by the Islamic Republic.
