The Esteghlal Crisis Continues as Fathollahzadeh Resigns Again

The Independence crisis continues as Fathollahzadeh resigns again

In the continuation of the recent weeks’ crises at Esteghlal Club, Ali Fathollahzadeh, the CEO of this club, has resigned again, stating that he is doing so to prevent harm to the Minister of Sports and Esteghlal fans.

Following this resignation, Hojjat Karimi, the chairman of Esteghlal’s board of directors, will take charge of the club’s management.

Shortly after accepting the interim leadership of Esteghlal, he addressed the statement attributed to him about securing the necessary funds to pay Stramaccioni’s debt if appointed as the interim club leader, telling Fars News Agency that this is not true and the matter is incorrect.

Esteghlal has been expelled from the AFC Champions League due to not paying the debt to Andrea Stramaccioni, the former Italian head coach of the club.

This, however, is not all the problems for the reigning champions of the last season of Iran’s league, as the team is also facing a lawsuit from the Privatization Organization due to numerous financial issues.
