United Nations: We are concerned about U.S. spying on the Secretary-General of the organization

The United Nations, referring to the leak of some confidential Pentagon documents, expressed its concern about reports related to American officials spying on the UN Secretary-General and has filed an official complaint about it.

Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, said that such actions are contrary to U.S. commitments.

He said, ‘We have now formally expressed our concern to the host country about recent reports that the communications of the Secretary-General and other senior UN officials are being monitored and interfered with by the U.S. government.’ The main headquarters of the UN is in the U.S.

Recently, the leak of confidential Pentagon information made headlines, during which at least 50 and possibly up to 100 confidential military and intelligence documents were made public. The Pentagon has assessed this leak as a very serious threat to the national security of the country but has not commented on the content of the leaked documents.
