Trump’s JCPOA Anniversary
September 9 marks the anniversary of a significant event in the history of Iran-U.S. relations. Ted Cruz, the Tea Party, and Iranian political activists opposed to the JCPOA, along with other politicians opposing Obama, organized a large rally against the JCPOA in 2015. They invited Trump, who had announced his candidacy for the 2016 elections, to gain attention and make noise. Trump took the stage, sidelining Ted Cruz, and Cruz’s electoral decline, despite being a candidate himself, began from that point.
