UN: China Loses Position as World's Most Populous Country

The United Nations: China loses its position as the most populous country in the world

Data released by the United Nations Population Fund on Wednesday indicates that India is on its way to becoming the most populous country in the world, and by the middle of this year, it will likely take the top spot with a difference of about 3 million people.

In its 2023 World Population Status report, the organization estimates India’s population to be about one billion four hundred twenty-eight million six hundred thousand people, while the same report mentions that China’s population will likely reach about one billion four hundred twenty-five million seven hundred thousand people.

The United States, with a population of about 340 million people, is in third place.

Experts have written this report using previous United Nations data.
