Vice President of the Parliament’s Social Commission: The Bill for Thursday Closures Will Be Reviewed

Vali Esmaeili, Vice President of the Islamic Consultative Assembly’s Social Commission, told Tasnim News Agency that the review of the bill to amend Article 87 of the Civil Service Management Law regarding changes in working hours and the closure of Thursdays will begin with the presence of officials from the Administrative and Recruitment Organization, the Planning and Budget Organization, the Court of Audit, and experts from the Parliament’s Research Center.

What does Article 87 of the Civil Service Management Law state?

Government employees’ working hours are forty-four hours per week, and the arrangement and scheduling of office hours are determined by the proposal of the organization and the approval of the Council of Ministers. Changes in employees’ working hours in necessary cases, while observing the mentioned limit, are up to the relevant authority.

The government of Ebrahim Raisi has now proposed that this article be changed to: Government employees’ working hours are forty-two hours and thirty minutes per week, and the arrangement and scheduling of office hours are determined by the proposal of the National Administrative and Recruitment Organization and the approval of the Council of Ministers.
