Warning from a member of the Parliament’s Health Commission: The number of rare or scarce drugs is high
Homayoun Sameh, a member of the Parliament’s Health Commission, in an interview with ILNA, said our prediction is that in the coming months, not only will the drug problem increase, but the issues with medical equipment will also intensify significantly.
He said currently the number of rare or scarce drugs is high, and most of these drugs are essential, considered very crucial and effective in treating patients, and unfortunately, they have become scarce, complicating the issue further.
Regarding which entity is responsible, he said we cannot place these problems solely on the Ministry of Health. The country’s economic situation and the decisions made by the cabinet and the Planning and Budget Organization in drafting the budget plan have all contributed to these problems.
Last November, following a severe shortage of drugs and an unprecedented rise in their prices, the Iranian Parliament summoned the Minister of Health.
Previously, officials of the Islamic Republic attributed the drug shortage to U.S. sanctions, but recently the Drug Importers Union announced that the U.S. has not sanctioned drugs; our financial mechanism is limited.
