The controversies surrounding the membership of several artists in the Chamber of Commerce are circulating while, according to one member, some of them are not even aware of their membership. Since this event occurred on the eve of the tenth-term elections of the Chambers of Commerce, there have been speculations about the connection between these individuals’ memberships and the electoral competitions.
Artists are not even aware of their membership. However, everything does not seem so simple. Majidreza Hariri, the head of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce, previously criticized the presence of artists in an economic institution like the Chamber of Commerce in talks with the media and said that some of these artists might not even know they are members of the Chamber.
What confirms Hariri’s statements is a video released by singer Mohammad Motamedi in response to the mentioned news, in which he explained that the issuance of these cards is solely for attending brainstorming sessions and conveying the concerns of artists through these meetings to the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade.
