America is working to ban TikTok

The United States is working to ban TikTok.

Both the United States and the European Union are considering banning TikTok. They are looking to restrict how user data is managed and increase overall surveillance on this application compared to platforms like Facebook or Instagram. These two entities have gone even further and have warned government employees against installing this app due to spying concerns.

Although TikTok’s headquarters are in Beijing, they have over 100 million monthly users in the United States and employ over 10,000 staff members in their parent company, ByteDance. This has raised security concerns and fueled the antagonistic stance of American and Chinese lawmakers.

Part of these security concerns stem from the fact that ByteDance has previously succumbed to Communist China’s demands.
