The United States has fined two companies for violating Iran sanctions.

The US Department of Justice announced on Tuesday, April 18th, that two international companies named DES International Co Ltd based in Taiwan and Soltech Industry Co Ltd based in Brunei have been convicted by the Columbia District Court in the United States for conspiring to defraud the United States and violating international economic emergency laws. They have been sentenced to pay fines.

According to the statement from the Department of Justice, these two companies are obligated to pay fines of over $83,769 each for violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and the regulations related to sanctions and transactions with Iran (ITSR). This amount is three times the value of the goods they illegally exported to Iran. These companies will also be under supervision for five years.
