Israeli National Cyber Security Organization announced on Tuesday, February 16th that hackers from the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran were responsible for a cyber attack on the Haifa University.
The report states that a group known as ‘Bloody Water’ was behind the ransomware cyber attack on the Haifa Engineering University in February, and the Israeli National Cyber Security Organization holds the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran accountable for this attack.
Furthermore, the report reveals that the group referred to as ‘Technion’ was also involved in the cyber attack on the Haifa Engineering University.
Previously, the United States and Britain had also identified this hacking group as affiliated with the Islamic Republic, a fact that the Israeli National Cyber Security Organization has also mentioned. It has stated that this group has been responsible for cyber attacks on various institutions from Asia and Africa to North America, similar to the security agencies of the United States and Britain.
The report also declares that the aforementioned group, associated with the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has demanded ransom from the Technion University by utilizing ransomware and encrypting information and systems.
