Execution of a smuggler by Singapore

Tangaraju Suppiah was recognized as a criminal and sentenced to death for drug trafficking in a case involving the transportation of one kilogram of hashish from Malaysia to Singapore in 2013.

Human rights activists claim that there was little evidence against him, but Singapore authorities stated that he had received a fair trial.

Although he was not caught in possession of the drugs, prosecutors argue that he was responsible for coordinating the operation and that two phone numbers used by the drug courier were traced back to Tangaraju.

Singapore has some of the toughest drug laws in the world.
