Mr. Lula da Silva will participate in a bilateral summit in Lisbon and a parliamentary session. He stated that his trip is part of a campaign to revive Brazil and improve diplomatic relations with its main partners
Mr. Lula da Silva has many allies in Portugal, including Antonio Costa, the Socialist Prime Minister of the country. However, his recent meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister and his statements about both Ukraine and Russia deciding to go to war have sparked criticism in Europe. Mr. Lula da Silva will travel to Spain on Wednesday.
