Baku dismisses Iran’s military claim as baseless and laughable
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan has called recent claims by the commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces about the presence of Israel and ISIS forces on Azerbaijani soil as baseless and laughable.
This statement, which was published on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Friday, April 10, adds to the amusement of a senior military official from a country that itself supports terrorism and has been involved in terrorist activities in various countries, making such accusations against the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Qiumars Heidari, the commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces, recently claimed that there are several sensitive issues in the Caucasus region, including the presence of Zionist regime elements within the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He added that another problem is the presence of Syrian terrorists who have been invited to the region during the conflict between Baku and Armenia. Iran has no credible evidence to support the claim of the removal of these elements from the region, and another issue is the change in geopolitical borders.
Iran had raised this claim at the beginning of the Qarabagh war in the autumn of 2020, a matter that Azerbaijan strongly rejected and demanded evidence from Iran.
