Bahrain and Qatar restore their diplomatic relations

Bahrain and Qatar are resuming their diplomatic relations.

The governments of Bahrain and Qatar agreed on Thursday afternoon to restore their diplomatic ties.

Bahrain was one of the four Arab countries that severed its relations with Qatar in 2017 due to Qatar’s support for certain Islamist organizations during the Arab Spring movements.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt started normalizing their relations with Qatar in 2021, and Bahrain, which was the last Arab country boycotting Qatar, also reached an agreement yesterday to normalize its relations with this Gulf country.
