Tehran is getting a new cemetery.

Alireza Zakani, the mayor of Tehran, announced that cemetery development is on the agenda of Tehran municipality for the new year.

Zakani stated that Behesht Zahra cemetery spans 590 hectares and has the highest number of martyrs in the world. We have special attention to Behesht Zahra and its reconstruction and renovation are in progress.

Furthermore, we are considering adding and making this area accessible. The mayor of Tehran added that geolocation has been carried out in the west and east of Tehran, covering an area of 100 hectares, and we are in negotiations for purchasing land to prevent people in the west of Tehran from having to commute to the south of the city.

Zakani said that the municipality intends to assist the economy of these areas by burying the deceased in the vicinity of Imamzadehs. We will also assist the Imamzadehs of the city and have started collaborating with endowments to be able to have burials in Imamzadehs as well.
