Iran and Saudi Arabia agree to resume bilateral relations

Today, on February 28, 2023, a trilateral statement was issued in Beijing, signed by Ali Shamkhani, representative of the Islamic Republic’s leader and secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mashaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, advisor to the Saudi Arabian Council of Ministers and National Security Advisor, and Wang Yi, member of the Political Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and head of the Central Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission and member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

Following President Raisi’s visit to Beijing in Bahman, Shamkhani started intensive negotiations on Monday, February 15, in Beijing to follow up on the agreements made during the President’s trip and to finalize the issues between Tehran and Riyadh with his Saudi counterpart.
