Journalist and children’s rights activist Kamyar Fekoor has been sentenced to 8 months in prison, and Sarvenaz Ahmadi has been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months.
Iran Human Rights News Agency reported that the sentences of civil activist and children’s rights advocate Sarvenaz Ahmadi and her husband Kamyar Fekoor, an environmental journalist and labor activist, have been reduced to 3 years and 6 months, and 8 months in prison, respectively, in the appellate court. Sarvenaz Ahmadi, who holds a master’s degree in social work, had previously been sentenced to 6 years in prison by Judge Salavati in Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court. Mrs. Ahmadi had announced her conviction on her Instagram page, stating that she had received a 6-year prison sentence in the initial court and expressed her sense of belonging to a powerful entity that is trying to control her destiny.
Kamyar Fekoor, a journalist and civil activist, had also been sentenced to one year in prison in this court, and according to his wife, this sentence has been added to his previous ones.
Sarvenaz Ahmadi, who is active in supporting the rights of workers and children, was arrested on November 15th of this year along with her husband Kamyar Fekoor, and after 31 days, they were released on bail of 500 million tomans on December 16th.
