Approximately 40 students in Shanderman Masal were poisoned

About 40 students in Shanderman Masal have been poisoned.

Media in Iran have reported the poisoning of approximately 40 students at Esmaat Shanderman School in Gilan province on February 15th.

Gholamreza Gilchali, the governor of Masal, stated that 43 female students at Esmaat Shanderman School became ill due to inhaling unknown substances. 21 of them were treated in the emergency department of the hospital, while the remaining 22 were admitted to different wards of the hospital.

The governor of Masal described the general condition of the students as appropriate and mentioned that the other students have returned home after receiving outpatient treatment.

The chain of poisoning incidents among mainly female students in Iran’s schools started approximately three months ago, and authorities have not yet announced a specific cause for it.

This morning, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of Iran, referred to these poisonings as a major crime and demanded a more serious approach in dealing with the culprits.
