The Secretary-General of the United Nations has the potential to apply for a return to the SWIFT system.

Reuters news agency revealed that on the 6th of Shahrivar, the Secretary-General of the United Nations declared in a letter to the Russian Foreign Minister that the branch of the Russian Agricultural Bank in Luxembourg can apply for a return to the international payment system SWIFT.

In this letter, it was announced that SWIFT has confirmed that this bank is authorized to participate again in this payment system for transactions related to food and fertilizer, and it can submit its request within 30 days.

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, suggested in his letter that the branch of the Russian Agricultural Bank in Luxembourg should act as an intermediary between global financial institutions and the main bank in Moscow, and convey financial transfer messages to global banks using SWIFT, and also facilitate the reverse route into Russia.
