Iran’s request to the Taliban for the return of Afghan migrants to their country

During a meeting of the Joint Consular Commission between Iran and the representative of the Taliban government in Tehran, the Iranian government asked the Taliban to cooperate with Iranian authorities in repatriating undocumented Afghan migrants and refugees to their country.

This consular meeting between Iran and the Taliban, representing Afghanistan, took place in Tehran after eight years.

Iranian consular officials, citing the state news agency IRNA, have asked the Taliban to prevent the entry of Afghan citizens without valid travel documents.

IRNA reported that in this meeting, there was also an announcement of readiness for scientific and academic collaborations, strengthening cooperation in police and law enforcement to combat drug trafficking, and addressing obstacles and issues faced by transit drivers of both countries.

The representative of the Taliban government and Iran have agreed to establish a technical group to achieve these goals.
