Increased scrutiny of inspections at Shandong Customs in China
Reuters reports that after the revelation of forged documents related to the sale of Iranian oil, inspections of oil shipments have been intensified at Shandong Customs in China.
This report, on Friday, July 8th, citing trade sources, adds that after a meeting with local authorities and the establishment of conditions regarding the use of the shipments, the unloading of millions of barrels of oil has begun.
Restrictions and stricter inspections of oil shipments at China’s main oil import port were implemented after Iran had falsely labeled several shipments as diluted bitumen instead of crude oil in order to bypass US sanctions.
After the revelation of the forged documents by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the unloading of some shipments, mostly from Venezuela and Iran, was halted. Reuters now reports, citing informed sources, that after a meeting between the governor of Shandong and customs officials in the country, the unloading of nearly 10 million barrels of oil has commenced.
