We welcome the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement on the prisoner transfer treaty between Iran and Belgium

We welcome the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement regarding the prisoner transfer treaty between Iran and Belgium.

Nasser Kanani, the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the ruling of the Belgian Constitutional Court regarding the prisoner transfer treaty between the governments of Iran and Belgium. He stated that with this ruling, the way has been opened for the implementation of the mentioned agreement between the two countries, and Iran welcomes this development.

Mr. Kanani, speaking at his weekly press conference, also mentioned that this agreement is general and not specific to any particular individual, but it can be effective and helpful in the case of Assadollah Assadi.

A few days ago, the Belgian Constitutional Court rejected the request of members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization to cancel the prisoner transfer treaty between Iran and Belgium, thereby potentially paving the way for the possible return of Iranian diplomat Assadollah Assadi.
