Syria Joins the Arab League Again

Syria rejoins the Arab League

After 12 years of expulsion, the foreign ministers of Arab League member countries have agreed to reinstate Syria’s membership.

Jamal Rishdi, the spokesperson for the Arab League, announced on Monday, 17th of Ordibehesht, that this decision was made during a closed-door meeting of the foreign ministers at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.

Syria’s membership in the Arab League had been suspended since the start of the civil war in the country, leading many Arab countries to withdraw their representatives from Damascus.

According to reports, an agreement for Syria’s immediate return to the Arab League has been reached, but the conditions have not been officially announced.

After months of discussions and deliberations among the members of the Arab League, the foreign ministers voted on Syria’s return to the league.
