Sabir Khodamradi received a sentence of imprisonment and flogging

Following the increasing pressures of the Islamic Republic on Sunni-Zahabi clerics in Iran, it was reported on Tuesday, April 21st, that Mawlawi Sabir Khodamradi, the Friday Prayer Imam of Quchan city in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, has received a sentence of imprisonment and flogging.

According to the report by Hangaw Human Rights Organization, the Special Court for Clergy in Hamedan has sentenced this Sunni religious scholar in Kurdistan to endure 7 months of disciplinary imprisonment and 72 lashes, and the Intelligence Agency has also threatened Mr. Khodamradi that if he continues his criticisms in the mosque, his sentence will be immediately carried out.

According to this report, the Intelligence Agency of Sanandaj is also attempting to demolish the library and mosque of this city, which were built by philanthropists and Sunni individuals. To achieve this goal, they have increased the pressures on Sabir Khodamradi, who is trying to prevent the destruction of the mentioned mosque.

On the second day of Bahman 1401 (January 22, 2023), Sabir Khodamradi was summoned to the Special Court for Clergy in Hamedan for the second time, parallel to the public protests in the city of Sanandaj.
