Taliban Iran returns 268 Afghan prisoners to Afghanistan

The Taliban has returned 268 Afghan prisoners to Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called this action a positive step towards deepening and strengthening relations and cooperation between Kabul and Tehran.

Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote in a series of tweets announcing this news that the release and transfer of these prisoners was the result of negotiations and agreements between Iranian officials and the Taliban.

According to him, this agreement was reached a few days ago in Tehran with a high-level delegation led by the Attorney General of the Taliban government, and with the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and prisons.

Recently, the Attorney General of the Taliban had traveled to Tehran to discuss Afghan prisoners in Iran.
