Taiwan’s dispute with China
According to Iran Gate, Taiwan’s dispute with China must be resolved and Beijing claims that Taiwan must be reunified with China. There is no escape from this matter, and any attempt to prevent this process will be doomed to failure. China will take effective measures to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This statement was made by Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the halt of William Lai, the Vice President of Taiwan, in the United States on his way to Paraguay. He further added that the dual transit severely violated the One China principle and harmed China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as sending a strong signal to separatist forces.
China strongly opposes any travel by Taiwan independence advocates to the United States and firmly rejects any official interaction between Washington and the rebellious island. With William Lai’s entry into New York as part of his official trip to Paraguay, the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Beijing is closely following the developments and will take decisive and strong actions to safeguard its sovereignty and integrity, and will respond firmly.
Wang emphasized in this daily session that the principle of China’s unity is a fundamental norm of international relations and a basis for diplomatic relations between China and the United States. William Lai, as the leader of Taiwan, has identified himself as a pro-independence activist.
His words and actions during his trip to the United States once again proved that he is a true separatist. However, it seemed that the American side also insisted on allowing Lai to participate in political activities and promote separatist ideas, in order to strengthen official exchanges and fundamental relations between the United States and Taiwan.
State media and the People’s Liberation Army often broadcast materials and promotional videos related to military exercises in order to promote the modernization of the army. These actions contribute to the growing nationalism in China and indicate military security against Taiwan, as well as its relationship with the United States. Although the United States has always emphasized that it does not officially recognize Taiwan as an independent country, it has promised to help defend the island in the event of a military attack.
China claims that Taipei, which has declared itself as a self-governing democratic state, is an inseparable part of its territory and it can forcibly annex it and integrate it into mainland China if necessary. Beijing considers Taiwan as the center of its core interests, the political foundation of Beijing-Washington relations, and the first red line that China and the United States cannot cross. Wang ultimately concluded that Taiwan’s independence is incompatible with peace and stability. He emphasized that this is a deadlock.
