International reactions to the resumption of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia
The announcement of the Iran-Saudi Arabia agreement on Friday, February 19, mediated by China to restore Tehran-Riyadh relations to full normalization, has been covered in reports and analyses by American media outlets, and think tanks affiliated with various factions have shown different reactions to it.
The Wall Street Journal in the United States sees this agreement as causing further complications in the formation of a united front against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Daniel Shapiro, an analyst at the Atlantic Council, also wrote that the strategic goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran to dominate the Middle East has not changed.
Jonathan Panikoff, another analyst at the Atlantic Council, wrote that the role China played in achieving this agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia is a warning to the United States not to abandon the Middle East.
However, according to Naderah Shamloo, a writer at the Atlantic Council, the closeness between Iran and Saudi Arabia is due to the women’s movement for freedom of life in Iran.
