The Ministry of Culture’s reaction to the news of Nazanin Bayati being prevented from attending an event in Mashhad is not true, despite what is being reported in the media.
Mehdi Samoui, the Director General of Public Relations at the Ministry of Culture, stated in response to a question about Nazanin Bayati and her prohibition from entering an unveiling ceremony in Mashhad, ‘Can anyone say that a citizen of the Islamic Republic cannot travel to Mashhad?’
Samoui added, ‘Although all producers and directors are respected by me and the honorable ministry, let us put aside some of the mischief that helps some of these films to be seen.’
In response to the host’s comment that these rumors are part of a media campaign against the film, he explained, ‘What has been said and exists in the media is not true.’
Samoui, in response to the host’s question about whether it should be announced by the Ministry of Culture and Guidance if Nazanin Bayati has not complied with a law, said, ‘If everyone complies with the law, the members of each profession decide about that profession.’
