Fox News Case Didn't Reach Court: $787 Million Paid to Avoid Defamation and Lies Charges

Fox News case did not reach court; payment of $787 million to avoid defamation and falsehood charges

The first court session of the lawsuit by tech giant Dominion against Fox News for defamation was canceled with a settlement between the two parties, closing a case that could have had wide political and legal implications.

In a settlement that occurred in the final minutes before the trial was to take place on Tuesday, Fox News agreed to pay $787.5 million, which is half of the damages requested by Dominion.

Dominion, one of the largest manufacturers of voting machines in the U.S., was supposed to take Fox News to court today over its false claims about election fraud and the company’s role in it.
